Abstract:Toevaluatetheefectiveness of predatorymites inbiological pestcontrol,twocontrol methods,namelyreleasing Neoseiulus californicusandapplying chemical pesticides,wereused to control Panonychus ciri,andasystematic investigation wascariedoutonthearthropodcommunityinthecanopyofcitrus trees.Theresearchresultsshowedthatatotalof 47825arthropods werecolectedfromthecitrusorchards treated with predatorymites,belonging totwoclasses,16orders, 128 families,and3O5 species.The number of pest species,neutralarthropod species,and natural enemyspecies inthe citrus orchardstreatedwith predatorymiteswassignificantlyhigherthanthatinthecitrusorchardstreated withchemicalpesticides ( P<0.05 ),and the number of pest individuals and natural enemy individuals in the citrusorchards treated with predatory mites was also significantly higher than that in the citrus orchards treated with chemical pesticides ( P<0.05 ). The number of Panonychus citriinthecitrus orchards treatedwith predatory miteswassignificantlylower thanthatinthecontrol.Thediversityindex,richnessindex,evennessindex,andstabilityf thearthroodcommunityinthecitrusorchardstreatedwithpredatory mites were significantly higherthan those in the citrus orchards treated with chemical pesticides ( P<0.05 ). The dominant natural enemy species in the citrus orchards treated with predatory mites was Chrysopa pallens. In conclusion, Neoseiuluscalifornicuscan effectively control Panonychus citriand simultaneously increase the richness,diversity, and stability of the arthropod community in citrus orchards. Theresultsof this studyprovide a theoretical basis for the biological control of Panonychus citri.
