Numerical Simulation of Vibration Reduction Effect of Rain-wind InducedVibration Model forRegular Prism Cable-stayed Cables

Abstract:[Purposes] Aerodynamic vibration reduction measures are important vibration suppression measures inrain-wind induced vibrationof inclined cables.To verifythe vibration reduction effect of multi column cable structures it is needed to further explore the vibration response of polygonal section cables.[Methods] Based on the slip theory,the vibration response equation of the regular prism cable section is derived,with a focus on the influence of waterline oscillation onthe wind pressure coffcient and wind friction coefficient of the cable.A theoretical modelof the regular prism cable section under rain-wind induced vibration is established,which includes six,eight,twelve,sixteen,twenty,twenty four,thirty-two,and sixty-four edges.On this basis,the influence of the number of edges and airflow direction on the vibration reduction eect of thecable is studied.[Findings] Regular prism cables have a certain vibration reduction effect,and the amplitude of the cables shows a trend of decreasing first and then increasing with the increase of the number of edges.The amplitude of the regular twenty prism cable is O.O125 m,whose vibration reduction efect is the best.[Conclusions] The amplitude of regular six,eight,and sixteen prism cables shows significant diferences due to changes in airflow direction. Among them,the amplitude of regular eight prism stay cable is most affected by changes in airflow direction and is not suitable as a type of anti vibration section.The study has certain reference significance for engineering practice.
