Characteristics of Forest Soil Organic Carbon Storage on Different Slope Aspects of Chaozhou City

AbstractExploring the distribution characteristics of forest soil carbon storage on different slope aspects in Chaozhou City can provide a scientific basis for optimizing forest management strategies and improving forest soil carbon sequestration capacity.By sampling 244 forest soil sampling sites in Chaozhou City,indicators such as forest soil organic carbon mass fraction and soil bulk density within the O - 100cm depth range of nine slope aspects were analyzed,and the organic carbon storage of soil in each layer was calculated.One-wayanalysis of variance was used to analyzethe differences in bulk density,organic carbon mass fraction,and organic carbon storageof forest soils under different slope aspects and soil depths,while two-way analysis of variance was applied to examine the efects of slope aspect and soil depth on forest soil organic carbon storage.The results showed that with the increase of soil depth, soil bulk density increased,while the soilorganiccarbon mass fraction decreased.There were significant diferences in bulk densityand organic carbon mass fraction of forest soil among diferent slope aspects.There are significant diferences in forest soil organic carbon storage among diferent slope aspects,with the northwest slope having the highest storage ( 172.85t⋅hm-2 )and the southeast slope the lowest ( 127.25t⋅hm-2 ).Slope aspect affects forest soil bulkdensityand soilorganiccarbon content byregulating hydrothermal conditions,thereby influencing forest soil organiccarbon storage;soil depth indirectly impacts forest soil organiccarbon storagebyaffcting soil bulk density.For slope aspects with relatively low forest soil organic carbon storage,measures such as increasing organic matter input and enhancing vegetation diversity can be adopted to improve the storage.
