AbstractInordertosolvetheproblemoftheimpactofsoilapparentspecificgravityonthegrowthofPaulowniafortuneiin Guizhou，eightplotsofPulowiaforuneipntationinuzouwereselected，ndthesoilpparentsecificavityasvdedto fourgradesbyspacefor-timesubstitutionmethod.Thesoilapparentspecificgavityysicalandhemicalpropertiesandgrowth indexofPaulouniafortuneiweredeterminedbycorecutersampling.Theresultsshowedthatwiththeincreaseofsoilapparent specificgravity，the porosity decreased from 56.3% to 46.5% ，thesoil aeration and water permeability became worse，the nutrient mass fractionsuchasrganicaterecreasedndthewateretetioncapacityweakenedThetreeheightofPuloniaforuneeeasd from 12.4m to 8.1m ，andthediameterat breastheightdecreased from 24.7cm to 15.2cm Theroot length density，photosynthetic rateandcloroyllmassfractionecreasedsignificantlecorelationcoefientsbetweensoilaparentspecificravitandtree height，DBHandoosyteticatre.87and75esptivelyowingaignificategatiecelatioe correlationcoeffientetweentotalporosityandaboveoundbiomassas79ndthecoelationcoefficientbetweerganic materandrotlengthensityas068，showingaignificantposiiecorelation.Excessvelyhigsoilapparentspificgavitycan inhibitthegrowthofPaulownia fortunei，whileasuitablesoilapparent specific gravityisconducive toitsrobustgrowth.
