AbstractComparingtheresponseofsedgerminationoftwoLepidiumspeciestodroughtstresscanprovideatheoreticalbasisfor vegetationrestorationindesertareas.Thegerminationategerminationpotential,germinationindexandvigorindexofLepidium apetalumandLepidiumlatifiumseeds treatedwithdiferentmassfractionsofpolyethyleneglycol6Ooo(EG6oO)weredeteined. Theresultsshowedasthefolowingthreeaspects.(1)WiththeincreaseofPEG6oomassfraction,thegerminationrateand germination potentialof thetwo speciesofLepidiumseedsdecreased gradually,andwhenthemassfractionofPEG6o was more than 16% ,Lepidium latifoliumcouldnotgerminateatallThegerminationindexandvigorindexofLepidiumapetalumseeds were significantlydecreased by 24% PEG6000,and the germination index andvigor indexof Lepidium latifolium seedsweresignificantly increased by 4% and 8% PEG6000.(2)PEG600O stress reduced the germination rate of two species of Lepidium seeds,delayed the initial germinationtimeofseeds,ndprolongedthegerminationtimeofseeds.(3)WhenthemassfractionofEG6oo0wasorethan 8% ,the seedling growth of the two species of Lepidium was significantly inhibited.
