Abstract: Silicon plays an important rolein plant growth,development,and stressresistance,and it isregarded as a beneficial element.While current researches on low-absorption fruit and vegetable varieties remain relatively limited.This review systematically summarized recent research progresson silicon in improving the development,nutritional quality,flavorcharacteristics,stress resistance,and shelf lifeoffruitsand vegetables. It identified several problems incurrent research,such as an unclear mechanism of action,alack of systematic agronomic schemes,and an urgent need to strengthen the research and development of new silicon source materials.Future research directions were proposed,including in-depth exploration of molecular mechanisms, establishment of customized application strategies and evaluation systems,and assessment of the long-term ecological effcts of exogenous silicon,to provide areference for expanding both mechanistic research and practical applications of silicon in the field of fruit and vegetable production.
