Abstract:To investigate the transient pitting corrosion evolution on 316L stainless steel under fluid flow, a numerical model is developed based on multiphysics coupling theory to describe the transient evolution pits in chloride-containing environments,systematically elucidating the influence fluid flow in corrosion kinetics. The results show that pit growth kinetics are governed by the synergistic interaction solution chemistry and electric fields. The mass transport corrosive species and multicomponent reactions is accelerated by fluid flow,resulting in asymmetric concentration and potential distributions that markedly accelerate the corrosion rate.
