Abstract:Theseismicperformanceassessmentofa3-m-levelhigharchdamhasgenerallyadoptedananalysis modelbasedonthe dynamicinteractionbetweenthedambodyandthefoundation.However,thehorizontalspatialscaleofthegroundmotioninput boundaryatthebottomof theanalysismodelincudingthefoundationcanreachseveralkilometers,withalargespatialspan.Thnonuniformityof groundmotionontheorizontalexteralbundaryofteodelsouldnotbeignoed,specialludernearfaultgound motion.Tostudytheinfluenceoftheuniformgroundmotioninputoftheexternalboundaryonthedynamicresponseof thearchdam, thispapertakesacertain27O-m-levelhigharchdamasanexampleandadoptstheETAmethodtoanalyzethenfluenceoftheuniform inputandhenonunifoinputconsideringtetravelingwavefectothedisplacement,tress,nddamageresponseofhdamIt isfoundthat,comparedwiththestressresponseresultsofthearchdambtaiedbyuniforminput,themaximumarchstressnsome areas ofthe archdamstressresposeconsidering thetraveling waveefect increases,whilethemaximumbeam stressdecreases,nd thestressontheinputsideoftheground motionincreasessignificantly.Comparedwiththeuniforminput,thedamageresponselawof thedamwithtravelingwaveeffectismainlythatthedamagetotedamfaceisreduced,hiletedamagetotherchendandedam

botomincreases.Fromthemaximumdisplacementofthedamtoprelativetothedambotom,itcanbeseenthatthetravelingwave inputincreasesthedamtopdisplacementsignificantlyrelativetotheuniforinput.Fromthespatialpointofview,thedamtop displacementnartheleftbankincreasessigiicantlyupstream,thedamtopdisplacementdecreassasitmovestoterightbank,and the dam top displacement near the right bank increases significantly downstream.
