Abstract： To investigate the propagation of hydrangea by stem cutings，this study explores the effects of diffrent seasons on the rooting performance of annual shoots andbiennial semi-lignified cuttings in1l Hydrangea macrophylla varieties. The results showed that the roting rate，average number of roots，average root length，and growth rate were highest inspring and autumn，folowed by summer，and lowest in winter.The rooting rateandaveragenumber ofrootsofbiennial semi-lignified shoots were slightlyhigherthan those of anual shoots.The study clarifies the seasonal efects on roting through cuting propagation in Hydrangea macrophylla and provides auseful reference for its propagation and production under natural conditions in the Xi'an region.
