Distribution Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Soil Organic Carbon in Typical Natural Forests in Tianshan Mountains

Abstract:Inorder torevealthedistributionrulesand influencing factorsof forest soilorganiccarboncontent in Tianshan mountains,the soil organiccarboncontentand spatial distribution characteristics of diffrent depths in the studyarea were estimated bycombining the forestsoil measured dataand the technical toolsof geographic informationsystem.Theresultsshowed that,according to different models,theaveragevaluesoforganic carbon contentin0 to10,10 to 20,20to 30,30 to 40,40 to 50 ,50 to 70 ,70 to 100 cm soil layers were 144.054, 147.087,122.343,122.302,72.941,61.260 and 49.527g⋅kg-1 ,respectively.In the depth of 0 to 40 cm,the areas with high soil organiccarbon content were mainlylocated in the middleof the studyarea,whileonly thecentral area maintainedahighdistributionin4Oto1OOcmsoillayer.Thesoilorganiccarboncontentofnatural forestsinthe studyareashowed significant spatial diferences,inwhichthesoilorganiccarboncontent decreased withtheincrease of soildepth and increased withtheincreaseof standdevelopment stage,which was manifested inmature forests > overmature forests > near-mature forests > middle-aged forests > young forests. Soil physicochemical properties playedadecisiveroleintheaccumulationanddistributionofsoilorganiccarbon.There wasasignificantcorrelation between soil physical and chemical properties and soil organic carbon content,and therewas a significant correlation between soil organic carbon and soil pH ,total phosphorus and bulk density,among which pH and bulk density were significantlynegativelycorrelated,while totalphosphoruswassignificantlypositivelycorelated.Aboveresults providedascientific basis for assssing the potential of soil carbonsequestration in typical forest areas of the Tianshan mountains.
