Introduction of WEl Aisheng's Experience in Treating Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus by "Supplementing Insuficiency and Draining Excess"

Abstract：This paper introduces WEI Aisheng's experience in treating type 2 diabetes melitus by "supplementing insufficiency and draining excess.Professr WEIAisheng proposes that the principle of"supplementing insufficiency and draining excess"is takenas thekeypointof syndromediferentiationof type2diabetes melltus.Inthe treatment， the excess and bias of the pathological products should be differentiated，and thenthe excessof phlegm-damp，static blood and constraint heat should be drained，especially phlegm-damp.Atention is paid to dispelling pathogen and making way for pathogen out.In the later stage，the lung and spleen are mainlyvalued，and the focus is on supplementing insuffciencyofqiand yin.In clinicalpractice，type2diabetes melltus can be divided intofivetypes： syndrome of strong stomach，weak spleen and damp-turbidity，syndrome ofqi stagnationand blood stasis，syndrome of liverconstraint transforming into fire，syndromeof lung-spleenqi deficiencyanddamp stagnation，and syndromeof deficiency of qi and yin.The main syndrome is strong stomach，weak spleen and damp-turbidity caused by excessive water and fluids，and it is treated with modified Sanhuang Yinchen Wuling Powder.The secondary syndrome is qi stagnation，liverconstraintandblood stasis causedbyabnormalmetabolismof waterandfluids，and itisoftentreated with modified Danzhi Xiaoyao Powder and Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction.For patients with insuficiencyof water and fluids， theyare mainly with syndromeof deficiencyofqiandyin，and the treatment is touse Jiangtang No.1Prescription to supplementqiand nourish yin.Inthe late stage，modified Shenling Baizhu Powder isoftenused，and homologous Chinese medicinals are also often applied，using sweet and bland medicinals to harmonize the stomach.
