Abstract: The Yuelingshan Grotoes are located on the hillside of“Heishibei” on the southeast of Yuelingshan Natural Village in the south of Qinxian County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province.There are 2 grottoes carved in parallel from the east to west,facing north.The planes of the grotoes are nearly square. Both have three niches on three wals. In groto No.1,there are exquisite relief of tents image carved on the top of the niche on the main wall,but nothing remained inside.There are the image of troop of donors on the both side out of the niche and tent-shaped niches carved on the other two sidewalls.Inside the niches, both had carved the high relief of the“one Buddha and two Bodhisatvas”.And outsideofnichethere was onedisciple carved on each side.The Groto No.2 is severely weathered,and only the outline of reliefs are remained.From the remnants,the three walls were allcarved a seated Buddha.And on two sidewalls, both had carved two little niches distributed on the left and right outside of the main niches.From the perspective of the groto shape,the theme and the style of statues,these two grottoes were carved during the late Northern Wei to the early Eastern Wei,and the statue style was mainly influenced by the Heluo area.The discovery of the Yuelingshan Grotoes provides new historic materials for study the spreading of Buddhist in the southeastern Shanxi during the late Northern Wei,and further improves and completes the developmental sequence of the Buddhism statues in this region.

2021年11月在山西省文物局的组织下,山西大学考古系(现考古文博学院)对长治市沁县石窟寺及摩崖造像保存现状进行了专项调查,发现月岭山石窟内容较为丰富。(剩余9465字)
