Abstract: The tomb of Yang Hui, Tusi of Bozhou (now Zunyi City in Guizhou Province) in the Ming Dynasty,isathree-chambered burial siteofYang Hui and his two wives,Mrs.YuandMrs.Tian.A stone land-purchasing certificate was unearthed from Mrs.Yu’s chamber.Decorated with Hetu (Yelow River Diagram)and Luoshu (Luo River Caligraphy),thiscertificate belongs to the typical“He-Luo type”, which has been found in Sichuan, Chongqing, and Hubei during the Song,Yuan, and Ming periods. The earliest known examples of such certificates were discovered in the Bozhou region. Compared to similar certificates from the Song and Yuan periods, this one clearly shows cultural influences from surrounding regions.Placed within a waist-shaped pit in the tomb,it may have served to communicate with subterranean deities, and protect and stabilize the burial.
