Research on quality control and process parameters optimization of Q235 flat elliptical and rectangular tube bending forming section

Abstract: The cross-section quality control and process parameter optimization of Q235 flat ellptical tube in the bending process were studied in order to reduce the cross-section distortion and wall thickness thinning and improve the bending quality. In this paper, the finite element simulation method is used to build a three-dimensional finite element model of Q235 flat oval tube by DYNAFORM software to simulate the bending process under different process parameters (including core tube gap,number of cores,bending radius,etc.). The specific steps include seting the billet material parameters, building the simulation model, defining the simulation conditions, dividing the section along the bending path to measure the distance between the top plate and the bottom plate,and calculating the mid plane height reduction rate η and the local wall thickness reduction rate . It is found that compared with the rectangular tube,the flat elliptical tube shows a smoother cross-section shape and a more uniform stress distribution in the bending process.By optimizing the process parameters, such as increasing the number of cores,selecting the appropriate bending radius and controlling the core tube gap,the flat elliptical tube can effctively reduce the cross-section distortion and wall tickness thinning. Compared with the rectangular tube,the section distortion of the flat elliptical tube is lower under the same process parameters,and the wall thickness thining phenomenon is less obvious. This study shows that Q235 flat elliptical tube has better section quality characteristics in the bending process. By reasonably optimizing the process parameters, the bending quality of the pipe can be significantly improved, which provides a theoretical basis and practical guidance for the process improvement in the actual production.
