Anti-breakage design of industrial milling cutter edge based on improved SSD algorithm

Abstract: The machining field environment of industrial milling cutter is complex,and the traditional machining method can not accurately control the tool edge parameters in visual inspection,which leads to the inability to ensure good anti-breakage performance of milling cutter in subsequent cutting. Therefore,an anti-breakage method of industrial milling cutter edge based on improved SSD algorithm is designed. In the design process, according to the single-tooth milling situation of industrial milling cutter, the time interval controlled by the program is calculated, and the sagittl diameter value corresponding to cutter tooth cutting is obtained to calculate the length of cutting edge. The overlapping form of micro-teeth of industrial milling cutter is optimized, and the small parameters are determined. Finally,an improved SSD algorithm is introduced to detect the damage of cutter edge and parameters.

The results of the edge breakage resistance test show that under the same test environment, the severe breakage rate of the tool obtained by the design method is greatly reduced,which shows that the breakage resistance performance has been improved and verifies the effectiveness of the method.
