Abstract: Centering onchapters such as“Yuandao”(The Origin of the Way),“Yuefu” (Music Bureau),and“Shenglu” (Euphony)fromTheLiteraryMindandtheCarvingofDragons,thisstudyexploresLiuXie'smusicalaestheticthought.Grouded in Confucians,LiuXipositsanitriscondetweenmusicandliteratre,asetigtatliterarybeautyieretlyeses musicality. “Yuandao”revealshis perceptionof music's“naturalness” and “harmony”;“Yuefu”reflects theaesthetic of“orthodox music as standard” and music'sdualrole in serving iterary expresion and moral education;“Shengl”elucidatesthepractical applicationof musical prosodyinliterarycreation.These three chaptersform aprogresive logical framework—“Natural Origin $$ Ritual Function $$ Spiritual Expression”-constructing a Confucian musical aesthetic system.
