Properties determination of Al2O3 -TiO2 composite sol and study of coating parameters

Abstract To enhance the performance of porous ceramic membranes and optimize the coating conditions of Al2O3-TiO2 composite sol on the ceramic membrane support,a sol-gel method was used to prepare the composite sol coating solution. Fly ash was used as an aggregate to create the ceramic membrane support. The composite coating solution was applied to the support using an impregnation-lifting method,and the efects of factors such as the number of coating cycles,lifting speed,and impregnation time on the support coating were investigated.By characterizing the pure water flux, flexural strength,micro-morphology,and membrane adhesion of the coated support,the coating effect was evaluated. The results show that the Al2O3-TiO2 composite sol coating should be applied three times, with an immersion time of 6O seconds and a constant lifting speed of 3mm/s . The resulting coated ceramic membrane has a uniform thickness and a relatively intact surface morphology.
