Design and Simulation Analysis of a Chain-spoon Precision Seeder for Pinellia ternata

Abstract:Toaddress the chalenges posed bythe iregular shape,large size,and thin seedcoat of Pinellia ternata seds,which lead to dificulties in seedflling and clearing,and being damaged easily during sowing,a chain-spoon precisio seed metering device was designed.The physical propertiesof Pinelia ternata seeds during the sowing period were measured to guide the design processKey parameters of the metering device were determined through theoretical analysis,and the seed filing process was simulated using DEM-MBD coupled simulation.A response surface model was establishedusing Design-Expert toevaluate the effects of the drive sprocket speedand the ratio of seed stirring toseed metering speed on the seed filing qualification indexand the missed filing index.Theresults showed that both the drive sprocket speed and the speed ratio between the seed stirring and metering devices were crucial factors affecting the seed filling performance. When the drive sprocket speed was 98.77r/min and the seed stirringto-metering speed ratio was O.53, the seed filling qualification index reached 94.220% ,and the missed filling index was 2.29% ,meeting the sowing requirements for Pinellia ternata seeds.
