Study on the Influence of Axle Box Rotary Arm Positioning on the Dynamic Performance of Express Freight Cars

Abstract:The stiffness of theaxle box rotary arm node and the length of therotary arm affect the dynamic performance of vehicles. Taking the rotary arm positioning structure of a certain type of 160km/h 号 express freight car bogie as the research object,the dynamic model of express freight car is established by using multi-body dynamicssoftware.The relationship between the longitudinal and lateral stiffness changes of thenode,the length of therotary arm,andthe dynamic performanceof the vehicle isanalyzed,and the extremecondition when the node fails is considered.The calculation results show that the longitudinal and lateral stiffness of the rotary arm node increases inacertain range,whichcan improve the stability of the vehicle and increase the critical speed of thevehicle’s hunting instability,but the curve negotiation performance of the vehicle becomes worse;the stiffness of the rotary arm node needs to be an appropriate value to ensure the straight and curve negotiation performance of the vehicle;if the node fails completely,that is,the stiffnessdrops to zero,the vehicledynamicperformance willdeteriorate;if thelengthof the rotaryarm increases ina certain range,the critical speed of vehicle hunting instability increases slightly,but the curve negotiation performance willbecome worse.The length of the rotary arm needs to be an appropriate value to ensure the straight and curve negotiation performance of the vehicle.
