Neurovascular coupling in patients with depression:a study based on multimodal magnetic resonance imaging

【Abstract】Objective:Toinvestigatealteredneurovascularcoupling inpatients withdepresion(DEP)usingresting-statefuctional magneticresonanceimaging(MRI)andarterialspin labeling perfusion MRI,aswellasitsasociation withdepressivesptoms. MethodsNeuropsychologicalassessmentandmultimodalMRIscanswereperformedfor25DEPpatientsand35healthycontrols (HCs).ArterialspinlabelingperfusionMRIwasusedtocalculatecerebralbloodfow(CBF),andfunctionalMRIwasusedtocalculate regionalhomogenity(ReHo).ThePearsoncorelationcoeffcientbetween CBFandReHoascalulatedtoobtainneurovascularcoupling.Results:Atthewhole-brainlevel,CBF-ReHocoupling wasreducedinDEPpatientscomparedwithHs.Atthebraingion level,CBF-ReHocouplingwasreducedin26brainregionsinDEPpatients,hichweremainlylocatedinthvisualnetwork,the defaultnetworkandtheauditorynetwork.Thecorelationanalysisshowedthatthecouplingvaluesofteleftsubocipitalgyrus,the leftangulargyrus,ndtelefttalauswerenegativelyoelatedwithHamiltonDpresionScalesore.Conclusionreisig nificant reduction in neurovascularcoupling in DEP patients,which is correlated with the severity of DEP.
