mucous substances from diffrent tissues.MethodsThe epithelial tissue and connective tissue samples with mucous change were stained by Alcian blue （pH2.5）method and mucous carmine method and compared by microscope.ResultsAlcian blue（pH2.5）showed diferent degrees of blue color to the acidic mucous substances derived from epithelium or connective tissue，and the staining difference was obvious from the surrounding stroma. The mucous carmine showed varying degres of rose red to the acidic mucous substance derived from epithelium， and the positive location was accurate，but the mucous substance derived from connective tissue showed light pink or no color，and the color was not significantlydiffrent from thatof thesurrounding interstitial substance，and the location was notclear，andthe interstitialfiber was co-stained.ConclusionThe positive rateand staining ffectof Alcian blue （pH2.5）methodand mucouscarmine methodare consistent in the detectionof acidic mucous substances of epithelial origin.However，inthedetectionof acidic mucous substances from connective tissue，Alcian blue（pH2.5）method issuperior to mucous carmine method，andthe positive location isclearandaccurate，and the comparisoncontrast is more obvious.
