【Abstract】 Objective To explore the significant value of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)and right heart contrast echocardiography (cTTE) in the diagnosis of patent foramen ovale (PFO).MethodsA study was conducted on 208 suspected PFO patients who were admited between January 2022 and January 2024.TEE and cTTE examinations were performed onall patients.Two experiencedand experiencedultrasound doctors were selected underthedouble-blind principle todeterminethediagnosticresults,andtheresults werecompared withthe surgicalresults (gold standard) to determine the diagnostic eficacyof PFO.Theconsistencybetweenthe right to left shunt level and the surgical results was evaluated.ResultsAmong 2O8 suspected patients,136 were confirmed as positive bysurgicalresults,123 were detectedas PFO byTEE,116 were detected as PFO bycTTE,and 134 were detected as PFO byTEE+cTTE.Compared with the individual diagnosisof TEE andcTTE,thediagnostic sensitivity and accuracyof TEE+cTTEwere 94.85% and 94.23% ,which werehigher than those of individual tests( P <0.05); TEE combined with cTTEevaluationshowed that there were 36cases of grade1,45 cases of grade 2,and 53 cases of grade3in theright to left shunt clasification.The consistency showed thatthe Kappa value of the consistency between TEE combined with cTTE right to left shunt clasificationand surgical resultswas 0.887( P <0.05). ConclusionThe application of TEE +⋅ cTTE technology in PFO diagnosis has a high diagnostic accuracy,is noninvasive,safe,convenient,andfast,providingreliable basisforearlydiagnosis,severityassessment,andtreatmentof thedisease.It can be used as the preferred diagnostic method for this disease.
