Abstract：Based on social cognitive theoryand utilizing the data from the 2O21 Chinese Social Survey （CSS），this study empirically examines how public exposure toonline politicalnews affects their perceptionofthe performaceof corruption governance，identifies the heterogeneityof this effect，and explores the underlying mechanism.The findings are as follows： First，exposure toonline political news significantly enhances the public'spositive perception of the government’s corruption governance performance.This positive efect strengthens with improvement in the public's socio-economic status andleveloftrustinthe government.Furthermore，ruralresidents exhibit a more positiveperception of corruption governance performance compared to urban residents.Second，online political news exposure primarily functions through two pathways：institutionalauthorityconstructionand enhancementof individualsocial participation. The former strengthens the public's positive evaluation of the performance of corruption governance by boosting trust inthe media as an intermediary，while the latter fosters a more positive public perception of corruption governance performance by enhancing individuals’sense of self-eficacy.Accordingly，a thre-pronged governance approach is proposed：constructing a dual structure of“content production-channel distribution”in the online political news domain，establishing amediaaccountability mechanism，andcreatingaclosed-loop system of“participation-fedback - response”.Theultimate goalis tostandardize the dissmination ofonline politicalnews，thereby improving the public's accurate perception and rational evaluation of corruption governance performance.
