Impact of Blue Carbon Sink Attention on Green Total Factor Productivity of Coastal Cities

Abstract：Leveraging theadvantagesof bluecarbonsinks incoastalregions toenhancegreentotalfactor productivity （GTFP）playsauniqueand vitalrole inachieving ecological livabilityand improvingcompetitivenessincoastal cities. Using government work reports and the Baidu Search Index to measure blue carbon sink atention，this study employs panel data from 53 coastal cities in China from 2011 to 2022 to empirically analyzethe impactof blue carbon sink attentionon green totalfactor productivity.The findings areas folows.（1）An increase inbluecarbon sink attention improves GTFPincoastal cities，with governmentatention exertingamore significant promoting effectcompared to public attntion.（2）When green technological innovationcapacity exceeds acertain threshold，thepositive effect of blue carbon sink atention on GTFP is significantly enhanced.（3）Blue carbon sink attntion improves GTFP by expanding green credit and reducing wastewater discharge.（4）The promoting effectof blue carbon sink attention on GTFP varies between southerm and northern coastal cities.These research findings provide theoretical support and empirical evidence for promoting green development in coastal cities.
