An Overall Response Analysis and Damage Assessment of the Offshore Wind Power Cable Based on ANCF

Abstract:Driven bythe large-scale deployment of offshore wind power in China,the operationand maintenance of ofshore wind farms have garnered significant atention,with submarine cable failure emerging as a primary challenge.Due to seabed scouring,power cables are prone to becoming exposed and suspended inthe water column. Simultaneously,these cables undergo complex dynamic responses driven by environmentalloads,leading to abrasive wear and fatigue damage.In this study,an offshore wind turbine,located in a wind farm in Guangdong Province, is selectedas theresearch case.Anon-linear dynamic modelof theofshore powercableextending from theoffshore windturbine foundation is constructed based on the absolute nodal coordinate formulation and hydrodynamics.The flowcharacteristicof theflowareaaround the foundation is simulatedbytheComputational FluidDynamicsconsidering the scouring seabed.The global response analysis of the power cable extending from theoffshore wind turbine is performed in various current and wave conditions.Furthermore,the fatigue damage and abrasive wear are evaluated to provide practical guidance for engineering convenience.
