Abstract: As an important cultural heritage of grotto temples in China, the Tianlongshan Grottoes have sufered varying degrees of weathering and damage due to the combined effect of natural forces and human factors. Among them, acidic pollutant gases such as SO 2 and NO 2 are one of the important factors leading to the deterioration of the Grotoes.To systematically reveal the mechanism and evolution law of sandstone deterioration,this study conducted indoor simulation deterioration experiments on sandstone samples under the effects of SO 2 -NO 2 mixed gas,relative humidity and precipitation factors.By integrating non-destructive testing technology with destructive testing technology,the physical and chemical properties of sandstone were continuously detected,and the evolution laws of its components,structure and performance were systematicall analyzed. Ultimately,thedeterioration mechanism of the sandstone here underthe combined action of multiple factors was clarified,with the aim of providing theoretical support for the scientific understanding and preventive protection of the grottoes.
