Abstract: The Qianfoya Cliff Statues in Huozhou,Shanxi province currently preserve five rare Chinese-style 3-3-3-1-1 type eleven-faced Guanyin statues. This type of eleven-faced Guanyin typically appears in Indian-style gilt bronze statues and Tibetan esoteric Buddhist eleven-faced Guanyin statues, with occasional examples found in the Mogao Caves of Dunhuang. This article provides a detailed analysis of the clothing, facial details, and iconographic characteristics of these four eleven-faced Guanyin statues, comparing them with those from the Longmen Grottoes and Mogao Caves to identify their spatiotemporal coordinates and explore their transmission routes. By examining Indian and Tibetan eleven-faced Guanyin statues,as well as the cultural exchanges between China and India and Empress Wu Zetian's advocacy, the study investigates the background and likelihood of the3-3-3-1-1 type eleven-faced Guanyin statues being transmitted to Huozhou.
