Abstract： The Hetou cliff statue is located at Hetou Village， Zhengzhuang Town， Qingshui County， Jincheng City，Shanxi Province，which werecarvedon the yellow sandstone of the north bank of the river vally during the fourth year of the Yanchang reign （515）of the Northern Wei.The statue area is centered around a gui-shaped niche，carved with thousand-Buddha niches，statues of offerings，pictures of ox carts traveling，vowing text，and inscriptions of donors.There are one main Buddhaand two attendants inside the niche，whoselintel is decorated with dragon and phoenix patterns.The main donors are from the Jiu family. Basedonacomprehensiveanalysisof the layout and decorative detailsof the statues，itispreliminarily concluded thatitwasfolkbelief remainscoproducedbyBuddhistand Taoist.
