Abstract:A batch of Buddhist stone carvings are preserved in Tuansong Village,Panlong Town,
Wuxiang County,Changzhi City,Shanxi Province. They include 4 four-sided statue stones,2 statue steles, 1 pagoda eave and 1 stone component, numbered WT1~8 in sequence. All the four-sided statue-carved stones are nearly square in plane, with niches for statues or inscriptions carved on allfour sides. The statue steles all have statues carved on one side, and the layout consists of small niches surrounding a large niche, along with reliefs of donors or narrative scenes.Based on the analysis of the stone carvings'shapes, iconographic themes, and stylistic characteristics,it is inferred that the Tuansong Villge stone carvings date roughly from the late NorthernWei Dynasty to the early Eastern Wei Dynasty, and there may be some form of combinatorial relationshipamong them. The discovery of these stone carvings in Tuansong Village provides important supplementary materials for research on four-sided statue stones, and also facilitates studies on the influence of the Yungang Model onthe southeastern Shanxi region and the formation of local traditions.
