Abstract:The physical and mechanical propertiesof timberbetween introduced Khayasenegalensisandnative timber species (Terminalia bellica,Acrocarpus fraxinifolius,Phoebepuwenensis,Michelia baillnii)were compared to provide fundamental theoretical data and guidance for subsequent applications.The results showed that K ,senegalensis exhibited the highest values in air-dry density (0.872g/cm3 ),basic density( (0.690g/cm3 ),radial shrinkage coefficient (0.198%) ,volumetric shrinkage coefficient (0.391%) ,impact toughness ( 280kJ/m2 ),and radial surface hardness (6 154.17 N) among all tested species. Its radial shrinkage coefficient (0.198%) and volumetric shrinkage coefficient (0.391%) were higher than those of other tested tree species,but the differential shrinkage was the smallest(O.744)and allshrinkage values fell within Grade1.This indicated thatits wood was not prone to deformation or warping during drying. The modulus of rupture,end hardness,and tangential hardness were measured at 106.793MPa , 5 075. 0O N and 5 929.167 N, corresponding to Grade 3,Grade 3 and Grade 4 respectively.

However,its modulus of elasticityand longitudinal compressve strength were relatively weak,clasified as Grade 1. In summary, K , senegalensis demonstrated superior performance in certain properties compared to local species, exhibiting distinct advantageous characteristics.
