Abstract：The"cros-saped"clothingstructureiswidespreadinallcivilations，whichmakestherelativelyindepedentcivilizationsshowcommonfeaturesintheearlyclothingforms.Thispaper，fromacros-culturalperspective，combinesliterature researchandcomparativeresearchmethodstocomparethe"cross-shaped"structureintraditionalclothinginChinaandtheArab region，aimingtoexploretheculturalimplicationsbehindit.Researchhasfoundthatalthoughthestructuralformsofclothingin thetworgionsaresimilar，theirculturalsymbolsandfunctionalemphasesaredifferent，respectivelyreflectingthetraditional Chineseagriculturalcivilization'sphilosophyof"harmonybetweenmanandnature"andthefunctionaldemandsoftheArabregion foradaptingtotedesertenvironment.Basedontheinvestigationofthtraditional"cro-shaped"clothingstructure，theieritance andinovatioathsfiodesignepropoedotoenditroidestoretialpportfozeroste"ble design；ontheotherhand，itbroadens thedimensionsoftraditionalcuturediseminationthroughsymbolredesignandbuildsa Chinese clothing design system with cultural confidence.
