Abstract Objective：To systematically evaluate the effect of white noise on alleviating operational pain in newborns.Methods：The randomized controlled studies on the impact of white noise on operational pain in newborns was conducted through computer retrieval of CNKI，WanFang Database，VIP database，CBM，PubMed，EMbase，Web of Science，the Cochrane Library.The retrieval time was from the inception to 31 May，2023.Two researchers independently screened the literature and used the bias risk assessment tool evaluated by the Cochrane system to evaluate the methodological quality of the included studies.Results：A total of 23 articles were included， involving 2 014 newborns. The results showed that white noise had different effects on pain， physiological and behavioral indexes of neonates during painful operation.Conclusion：Current studies show that white noise can alleviate operational pain in newborns，but there is still controversy over the improvement of behavioral indicators such as crying，heart rate，blood oxygen saturation，and respiratory rate in newborns;in the future，high-quality and large-scale original studies are still needed to further confirm the effect of white noise on neonatal operational pain.
