Eye-tracking Study on Cross-media Information Searching by Library Users Based on Their Cognitive Styles

AbstractTo better understand the relationship between users’cognitive styles and cross-media information searching，this research collcted 3O eye-tracking experimental samples from university libraryusers.This study conducted comparative analyses onthe eye movementbehaviorcharacteristics offield-independentandfield-dependent usersfrom two dimensions： time and space.The findings indicated that the diferences in the key searching behaviors betweenthetwo kindsof users were significant.Itincludes in total eye movementduration，totalfixationduration，and total saccade duration onthe temporal dimension，as wellas the formatof fixation points，number ofsaccades，and scanning paths on the spatial dimension.
