Prompt Librarian：The New Role of Librarians in the Era of Generative Artificial Intelligence

Abstract The article first analyzes theconcept and connotationof "prompt engineering"andcompares it with the library informationretrieval process.It then provides adefinitionof the promptenginer librarian.Finallyit explores the functional responsibilities and training recommendations for prompt engineer librarians.This paper argues that there are many similarities between prompt engineering andlibrary informationretrieval，suchastheneed for precise language expresion to achieve specific informationretrieval or generation goals.It reviews the functionalresponsibilities of prompt engineer librarians basedontherequirementsof AItechnologycompanies andlibrarytraining programs.Finaly，this paper proposes cultivatingpromptLibrarian from four aspects：skillintegration，tol empowerment，user collboration，and ethical literacy.Thisincludes integratingretrieval skills intoprompt engineering，constructingalocalized promptoptimiZation platform，driving prompt iterations with user needs，and establishing an ethical assrance system.These measures aim to address the challenges posed by generative artificial intelligence technologies.
