Research on the impact of place attachment on relative deprivation among landless farmers in rural tourism destinations

Abstract:Land expropriation inrural tourism development may evoke strong place attachment among displaced farmers to their homeland,therebytriggering theirsenseofrelativedeprivation inmultipledimensions.Toexamine therelationship betweenplaceatachmentandrelativedeprivation,this studyconstructsatheoretical model basedon existing literature,positioning placeatachment as the independent variable,negative expectancy disconfrmationand perceived injustice as mediating Variables,andrelative deprivationas thedependent variable.Data werecollected via questionnairesurveys,andanalyzedusing structuralequation modeland mediating efectanalysis.The results show:（1) Placeattachment exerts asignificant positive influence onrelative deprivation；（2)Negative expectancydisconfirmation andperceptionofinjusticepartiallymediates theefectofplaceatachmentonrelative deprivation；（3）Placeattachment positively affects relative deprivationamong landlessfarmers through the chained mediating effects ofnegative expectancy disconfirmationand perceived injustice.Accordingly,targeted measures should be implemented to reduce landless farmers'relative deprivationand promote the harmoniousand sustainable development ofrural tourism.These include: improving thecompensationandresetlement systems to ensure distributive justice,establishing efective interest expressionchannels tostrengthenproceduraljusticeininteractions,andstandardizing institutional procedures toenhance procedural justice in implementation.
