Improvement of transient reactive power support capability and key parameters optimization of variable-speed pumped storage unit

Abstract : With the increasing proportion of wind power,photovoltaic and other new energy,the issues of insuffcient transient reactive power support capability and voltage stability of the power system are increasingly obvious. The variable-speed pumped storage unit (VSPSU) can quickly adjust the magnitude and direction of the rotor magnetic field to provide bi-directional transient reactive power support for the power grid,which are of vital significance for improving the voltage stability of the new energy power grid.In order to study the transient reactive power support capability and key influence parameters of the VSPSU,the effective gain of reactive current was derived and established as an evaluation index to quantitatively describe the transient reactive power support capability; Through frequency-domain sensitivity analysis of the eective gain of reactive current,the influence of body parameters and control parameters on the transient reactive power support capability of the VSPSU was investigated,and the key parameters and their optimization directions were obtained;A coupled model of the VSPSU and its excitation system was established,and the transient operation characteristics of the VSPSU under severe voltage fault of the power system were investigated,revealing the influence laws of the body and control parameters on the transient reactive power support capability.The research results can provide technical support for improving the voltage stability of the new energy power grid.
