Abstract:To investigate the effects of different flow velocities on the aggregation effect of Acanthopagrus schlegelii by artificial reefs,field observations were conducted in Tianjin's reef deployment area under three hydrodynamic conditions:still water,low velocity ( (0.19m/s ),and highvelocity (20 (0.34m/s) . The distribution patterns of juvenile Acanthopagrus schlegelii around artificial reef models were analyzed. Key findings include:the distribution rate of Acanthopagrus schlegelii manifested a progressive decline with increasing flow velocity;the presence of artificial reef structures significantly enhanced the distribution rate of Acanthopagrus schlegelii within reef-proximate zones; ref configuration exerted significant differential effects on the distribution rates of Sparus macrocephalus,with the rectangular-aperture reefs achieved the highest distribution rates of Acanthopagrus schlegelii , significantly exceeding all other configurations ( P<0. 05 ). Two-way ANOVA revealed significant main effects of reef configuration and flow velocity,along with a significant interaction effect on the distribution rate of juvenile Acanthopagrus schlegelii. Crucially,reef configuration demonstrated the strongest effect size on aggregation patterns. Synthesis,Acanthopagrus schlegelii exhibited distinct behavioral responses to artificial reefs,with diferential aggregation rates across ref morphologies. This selective response indicates habitat optimization driven by structural features.
