Construction of the Evaluation Index System for the Professional Practical Ability of Engineering Professional Master's Degree Students

Abstract： Engineering professional master's degree students are a vital component of the training system for high-level applied talents in the engineering field，and professonal practical capability is their core competency. Using the grounded theory method，a preliminary evaluation index system for the professional practical ability of engineering professional master's degree students was constructed through the colation and analysis of the relevant national policy documents，the cultivation programs of colleges and universities，and the contents of core journal literature. Combined with the expert ratings and by using the analytic hierarchy process，the evaluation index system including three firstlevel indicators，seven second-level indicators and twenty-three third-level indicators as well as the weights of various indicators was finally determined. Moreover，a questionnaire was designed by using this evaluation index system and distributed to engineering professional master's degree students at University H to verify the scientificity and operability of this evaluation index system. Finally，in response to the problems reflected in the questionnaire survey regarding the professonal practical abilities of engineering professional master's degree studetns， relevant suggestions for improvement were proposed.
