This article applies symbiosis theory and integrates threecore elements of symbiosis—symbiotic unit， symbioticenvironment and symbiotic mode—to systematically analyzeand explore the design of Tank Shanghai. This article alsoproposes a strategy for renewal of urban industrial heritagefrom a symbiotic perspective， offering reference significancefor finding the way for industrial heritage to coexist andintegrate with the urban environment and facilitating thefunctional transformation of abandoned industrial sites.
