Design-led Revitalization of Inner City： TheDesign Intervention of Urban Regenerationin the UK

Abstract

Expecting todetermine therecentappearanceofurbanactivitydeclination insome inner citiesofChina，this research focusesonseveraldesign interventionsofurbanregenerationpractices intheU.K.Testrategiesandmeasuresof these design interventions havebeen examined，and meanwhile their eectivenessand limitations have alsobeencategorized according to the literature review.According to the analysis，five propositions have been listed： ① establishing specific design code for inner cities; ② bringing retail business back to the streets to revitalize cities; ③ designing introducing profit-oriented， design-led“flagship"projectsto improve the image of thecities; ④ prioritizing“accurate intervention” onparks and streetscape to improve the quality of urban life; ⑤ maintainingadynamic financialbalance throughout the entire intervention process.
