Carbon emission reduction effect of farmland infrastructure:an empirical study based on rice farmers in 5 provinces(municipality)within the Yangtze River’s middle and upper reaches

Abstract:Scientificallrevealingthecarbonemisionreductionefectandmechanismoffrmlandinfrastructureisofgeatpractical significace.Ithelpsadvancetheconstructionofrmlandinfrastructureinanoderlyayandacceleratethelowarbontransfoationof ricecultivation.Usingaquestioairesureymetoddatafro285icefersin5provices(unicipality)witinteangeRier's middle and upper reaches were collected. Carbon emission intensity( CI) was calculated by using the ratio method,while marginal carbon abatement cost(M-cost) was estimated byapplying the shadow price method.A mediation efect model and a Probit model were employed toexploretheimpactandmechanismoffarmlandinfrastructureconstructiononcarbonemisionreductioninricecultivation.Tersults indicated that:farmland infrastructure significantly reduced CI ,with road engineering exhibiting a strongest effect.Green technologies playedamediatingroleintisprocess,amongichpesticidereductionsubstitutiontechnologyandwatersavingiigatiotechology demonstrate significant mediation effects.Field road had a significant inverted“U"shaped impact on M-cost .To accelerate the low-carbon transitionofriceproduction,priorityshouldbegiventopromotingtherenovationandupgradingoffieldroadprojects,stablishingan “engineringagrotegatdissodctionodelandeingmissionductiststdvaeteasedoction of farmland infrastructure.
