Analysis of Differences in Fruit Nutritional Quality among Tomato Varieties

Abstract:Investigation of quality differences among diverse tomato cultivars generates essential scientific data, which underpins theoptimization of cultivation practices,improvement of nutritional profiles,and marketdevelop ment. This studywas to investigate the qualitydiferences of32 different tomato varieties collected in Shouguang city Shandong province,by measuring the qualitycomponents of total acid,soluble sugar,vitamin Cand protein,using principalcomponent analysis,cluster analysis,membership function methodand other methods.Medium-sized tomato was closelyrelatedtosoluble sugar,cherry tomato wascloselyrelatedto protein,totalacidandvitamin C.Thresultsof cluster analysis showed that32 varieties oftomato formed three mainclusters,butoverlaps were observed in certain qualitycomponents,which mightbedue tothe existenceof intermediate forms orqualityoverlaps among some varieties. Finaly,theobjectiveanalysisandevaluationofallvarieties werecariedoutbymembershipfunctionevaluationmethod, which was consistent with theresults of cluster analysis.Therefore,the resultsof this study revealed thequality differences between 32diferent varietiesof tomatoes,providingan importantscientificbasis for tomato plantingand breeding,and a useful reference for tomato product optimization and market development.
