The Preliminary Effects of Ecological Restoration Measures in Degraded Alpine Meadows were Evaluated based on Grassland Revegetation Index

Abstract:The degraded alpine meadows in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture were selected as the research object.The plant communities near the apex of alpine meadows in the study area were selected to construct the Grassland Revegetation Index. The preliminary efects of seven commonly used restoration measures were evaluated,and the influence of diffrent measures on the structureof degraded alpine meadowsplant communities was explored to provid technical support forthe restoration of the degraded alpine meadows.The results demonstrated that the processes ofsodding,replanting,and sodding+replanting resulted inpositive correlations between aboveground biomass,species richness,,and community cover of the plantcommunity,which increased and decreased ina concurrent manner and promoted the succession of the plant community towards thedominant functional groups of Gramineae.The applicationoffertilisation and reseeding resulted in the most significant increase in the GrasslandRevegetation Index (P<0.05) ,witha 105.56% improvement compared to the control (CK) treatment. The three measures of replanting,sodding + replanting and fertiliser+sodding+replanting not only demonstrated a sig nificant increase ( P<0.05 )in the Grassland Revegetation Index in comparison to CK,but also resulted in a plant community structure that was dominated by graminaceous high-quality forages. The two measures of replanting and sodding+replanting were observed to reduce the proportion of poisonous grasses in the plant community, while increasing the proportion of graminoid high-quality forage grasses.
