AbstractObetieTostudyetsofplantigensityoymateracculatiorasatondyieldofdiertyfe varieties，andcarifhesitableplantigdsiyftedieretmaevarietisinortheAu．Method]I4，teieldtrialwas conductedinTaiheCounty，uyangCity，AnhuiProvinc，usingthesem-compactmaizevarietiesLiu16andQiule368，andtecompact maizevarietiesLuyu9dM3astheexpritalmterals，ndtiguiveplatigdensitsof4ooO900 and105Opnts/tadticatodieresofdratecuulaiorefoegyatertaslocatioo tograinofdryatetrasloationndyeldfeingrowhagsResult]Withireaseofsityheoupymae lationcreasdsigicatlyrefowgdatetasloadorbutioofoedyateslocatiotod tendencyofieasindeasigiticeasigitedgigateieasdntlyndompctdeai lylowriskofldgingcomparedwithsem-compactmaizeunderhig-densityplantingconditios.Withtheincreaseofdensi，theberof earsperunitareicased，teumbrofspardeaseddthyeldfirsteasdnddeeadestesfu 9105，MY73，Liyu16，andQiule368were 8923.5kg/hm2（75000plants/hm2） ，9415.9kg/hm²（90000plants/hm²），8112.7kg/hm² （75 000 plants/hm²）， 8503.2kg/hm2（75000plants/hm2） ），respectively. According to the quadratic curve relationship between maize yield and density，within 5% of the maximum yielddiference which isnotsignificant，thesuitable planting densities ofLuyu 91O5，MY73，Liyu16， and Qiule 368 in the northern Anhui area are 63600plants/hm2 ， 82455plants/hm2 ， 49500plants/hm2 and 51315 plants/hm²，respectively， intersfcostsavingandeductionofteiskoflodging.Concusion]Theselectionofcompactmaizevaretisithappropratehigplant ing density is an effective measure to improve maize yield.
