Abstract: MomentinPeking isoneofLinYutang'srepresentative works,withdistinctivecharacter portrayals.Thenovel'smain character,Yaoulancievesultidimensioalityandchnssprmarilyroughdiscoursestrategies.GricesCooprativePrinciple providesathoreticalframeworkforinterpretingtheelationshipetweentheliteralandimplidmeaningsoffictioalcharactesut terances,therebyevealingtheirauthenticpersonalitytraits.FromtheprspectiveofGrice'sCooperativePriciple,thispaperaalyzes Yao Mulan'sdiscousein MomentinPeking.Focusingonthree maincontexts—mariage,familyandwar,thepaperreveals how YaoMulanstrategiallviolatestefourmaxisoftCooprativePrinciple(QualitQuantityRelatio,ndManner)tditly convey her true conversational implicature, exploring the complexity and progresive nature of her character.
