EffectsofCitricAcidonEnhancetheRemediationof Cd-contaminated Soil by Amaranthus hypochondriacus L.

Abstract:Inorder to explore theeffect of exogenous citric acid additionon theremediationof cadmium(Cd) contaminated soilby Amaranthus hypochondriacus L.,2Cd contaminated soils with moderate(M)andlow(L)were selected and treatedwith4citricacid dosageof2.5(T1),5.0(T2),10.0(T3),20.0 mmol·kg-1(T4) to study the responseof phytoremediation characteristics of A. hypochondriacusL.tocitricacid application with no citric acid adedascontrol(CK).The results showed that exogenousadditionof citricacidto moderate and lowCd contaminated soil reduced soil pH to a certain extent,promoted the conversion of Cd components in soil and improved the biological availabilityofCdinsoil.Theapplicationofcitricacidinlow Cd-contaminated soil significantlyincreasedtheabove-ground Cdcontentbutdidnotaffectthenormal growth,andsignificantly increased the above-groundCd remediation eficiency,which increased with the increaseof citricacid dosage,ranging from 58.58% to 213.20% ,among them,L-T4 treatment had the best effect,and the aboveground Cd removal rate 0 (18.98% )was significantly higher than other treatment. Although the above-ground Cd content in moderately Cdpoluted soil afterapplicationof citricacidshowedanincreasing trend,theabove-groundCdremoval ratewasnot significantlychangedby exogenousapplicationofcitricacidbecauseexcessiveenrichmentofCdinhibitedits normal growth.In conclusion,applying 2O mmol·kg-1 citric acid could effectively improve the remediation efficiency of A : hypochondriacus L.inlowCdpollutedsoilbyreducingpH,increasingCdbioavailability,Cdremovalrateandsoon. However,there was no need to apply citric acid when A.hypochondriacus L.was used to repair moderate Cd contaminated soil.Therefore,the exogenousadditionofcitricacidcould enhance theAmaranthushypochondriacus L remediation of Cd-pollted soil toacertain extent.Above results provided important reference valueand guiding significance forthe treatment ofmoderateandlow Cd contaminated farmland.
