Research progress in supercritical water oxidation of radioactive waste resins

Abstract:Radioactive waste resin treatment is akeychallnge inradioactive waste management,which stilacks efective solutions.Traditional methodssuchascementsolidification,hotsuper-compaction,and incinerationexhibit significant limitations.Supercritical wateroxidation(SCWO)is noteworthy foritsswiftorganic treatment and volume reduction.This review states the fundamental characteristics of supereritical water and provides a comprehensive overview of the research progress on reaction conditions such as temperature,pressre,oxidant coefficient,residence time,and material concentration onthe removal eficiency oforganic compounds fromradioactive waste resins.Additionaly,theadvantagesanddisadvantages of this technologyareanalyzed.Finaly,froma practical aplication perspective,challenges that SCWO technologystillfaces inthe treatment of radioactive waste resins are discussed,which can provide references and gudance for the industrial application of SCWO in treating radioactive wastes.
