Abstract:Functional coatings have become the mainstay of coating industry because of their excellent performancesinwaterprofing,anti-fouling,fire-resistant,rust preventionand electromagneticshielding etc.Asoneofavital member offunctional coatings,unique functionality and artistic nature lies in fluorescent functionalcoatings guarantee the promising application prospects in biomedicine,chemical detection,food engineering and special equipments.However,byvirtueof the notoriousaggregation-caused quenching(ACQ)efectamong traditional fluorophores,theutilizationsoffluorescentfunctionalcoatings areseverelylimited.Withtheevolutionofmodern technology,thesynthesisanddevelopmentofaggregation-induced emisson(AIE)materials effectivelybreak thisdeadlock. Diferentfrom traditionalfluorophores,AIE materialsemit strong fluorescence inaggregate statewhilealmostquenching whendissolved insolublesolvents.Owing toexcellntfluorescent quantumyield,highsensitivity,photostability and outstanding resolution ratio,AIE materials are considered as pigments alternatives in coating preparation.Meanwhile,molecular structural variability induced controlable stimuli-responsive properties also provide new inspiration andfeasibility forthe preparationof multifunctional fluorescentfilms.Basedonthe particular emision properties of
AIE materials,thisarticlereviews theresearch status withregard to functionalAIE fluorescent coatings inchemical detection,foodand medicalcare,public securityalong with some other smart coatings.Moreover,main problems and solutions thatconstrain thelarge-scale developmentoffunctional aggregation-induced emission fluorescentcoatings have been meticulouslyanalyzed.The future research directions and application foregrounds have also been outlined.
