Abstract:The development of new scintillator materials with both high luminescence performance and environmental friendliness is urgently needed for the high-sensitivity and low-dose development of X -raydetection and imaging technologies.Zero-dimensional antimony-based metal halides exhibit high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY),large Stokes shifts,and excellent structural tunability by virtue of their unique 5s2 electronic configurations and self-trapped excitons(STEs)radiation mechanisms,which make them promising candidates forlead-free scintillators.In this paper,we systematicallyreview the luminescence mechanismand design strategyof zero-dimensional antimony-based hybrid metal halidesand theirresearchprogress in X-raydetectionand imaging.Itis shown that such materials exhibit excellnt light yieldand low detection limit under X-ray excitation,while high spatialresolution imaging is achieved in X-ray imagingapplications.Finally,we point out the main challenges currently faced by zero-dimensionalhybridisedantimony-based metal halidesand provideanoutlook ontheir future directions.
