Polarization-field-tuned Pyro-phototronic Detectors: From Uniform Polarization to GradientPolarization

Abstract:Miniaturized,low-power,and high-performance photoelectric sensor isakeyresearch topic inintegrated optoelectronicchipsandintelligentsensors.Particularly,pyro-phototronicdetectors haveemergedasavitalresearch directioninoptoelectronic sensing dueto their self-powered capability,fastresponse,high responsivity,and broad bandwidth.Here,thefundamental principlesofpyro-phototronic efectare elucidated,folowed byanoverview of performanceoptimizationstrategiesandspecializedapplicationsofthis efect invarious junctions-based photodetectors. Subsequently,enhancementof non-uniformpolarization fieldonpyro-phototroniceffectsinPNjunctions isdemonstrated through enhancementmechanismand constructing methodologies forgradientpolarization fields.Basedonthe engineered gradientpolarization,we achieved the PN-junction pyro-phototronicdetectors with superior performances inresponsivityand spectralbandwidth.Finally,weoferinsightintothefuture development of pyro-phototronicdetectors in designprinciples,device architectures,and specificappications.The studies onpolarization-field-tuned photodetectorsofferflexibledesign paradigms for advancing pyro-phototronic sensing,which might significantly accelerate he practical applications of pyro-phototronic detectors in smart sensing,communication andultrafastimaging.
